Legislative Affairs
The Chairperson of the Legislative Affairs is appointed annually by the President of NAMME. He/she is responsible for maintaining the Legislative Corner. The Legislative Corner is a mechanism by which the membership of NAMME via the Legislative chair can be alerted and, often times, view actual proposed and pending federal legislation pertaining to minority health and medical education.
The Legislative Affairs Chairperson also serves as the liaison of the NAMME Board of Directors. He/she will interface with legislators/health organizations and their staffs for the purpose of providing factual information and data on issues affecting the NAMME membership. This includes collaborating with such organization to realize change in adverse legislation. The essence and outcomes of these interactions are shared in the Legislative Corner.
